The linking of SBI credit cards on the RuPay platform with UPI was announced on Thursday by SBI Card and National Payments Corporation of India. Customers of SBI Cards will now be allowed to use credit cards issued by RuPay to make UPI transactions.
The service can be used by registering the credit card with outside UPI apps, according to a statement from SBI Card, a State Bank of India subsidiary. According to the company, this will further expand the options for clients using SBI Cards on the RuPay platform for UPI transactions, enabling an improved, practical, and seamless payment experience.
“Today, UPI has become a massive digital platform enabling millions of transactions every day. This should give our customers greater flexibility and mobility, along with hassle-free usage. With this, the industry is going to witness a significant increase in credit card usage,” it said.
It added that the service will be free for users and that cardholders could enroll their active primary cards on UPI and use their credit cards to make payments to merchants (P2M transactions).
