Fake Rape News Behind Mob To Parade Manipur Woman Naked, 2 Accused Arrested

The police reported that between 800 and 1,000 people invaded B. Phainom village with high-tech weapons, causing significant damage and looting.

Rape

The horrific video of women being paraded naked in the Kangpokpi area of Manipur has provoked outrage from the public, the opposition, and the government.

In the terrible footage, two Kuki-Zo community women are being paraded around by a mob, and according to a FIR that was filed in the case, the one of the two women(19) was brutally gang raped.

However, the horrifying episode and the mob’s attack on the two women were the result of fake news. Police sources claim that the word of a rape in Delhi propagated on social media similarly to the news of a rape in Manipur.

It was falsely reported that a woman from a specific group in Manipur had been raped.

It was stated in image circulated on social media, the woman wrapped in plastic was from Manipur. However, it was later discovered that the alleged rape actually occurred in Delhi.

This is what led the mob in Kangpokpi to kidnap a group of five people. One day after rioting erupted in the northeastern state, on May 4, the incident happened in the Kangpokpi district.

The police reported that between 800 and 1,000 persons invaded B. Phainom village with high-tech weapons, causing significant damage and looting.

Two people have been detained in connection with the investigation thus far, one of which is a man who was visible in the distressing video wearing a green t-shirt. According to Chief Minister N Biren Singh, another suspect was taken into custody later today.

On May 18, a complaint was submitted, and the FIR was lodged on June 21. According to N Biren Singh, the administration was thinking about applying “capital punishment” to the accused.
