On late Sunday Evening, after Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed that both up and down railway tracks at Balasore accident site is repaired, the first train movement was recorded. It took around 51 hours for the complete restoration of the tracks after horrific accident that sent shockwaves to the nation took place on Friday. As per the report about 300 people have died in the accident and nearly 900 people were injured.
Down-line restoration complete
During the first movement of train through the restored tracks Railway Minister was present at the site. He even shared a clip of first train movement in section in Balasore at the accident site. He tweeted, “Down-line restoration complete. First train movement in section.” After some time he again informed the citizens regarding Up train movement as well by sharing a clip on his twitter handle.
Track linking of Up-line has been done at 16:45 hrs.

The driver of Coromandel express has been given clean chit according to the reports. The Railway Board members stated that the train was fail safe and was running in its permitted speed limit. However, officials have been speculating signalling issue that resulted the mishap.
Debate on ‘Kavach’
A debate was raged after Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamta Banerjee stated that no anti collision system was on route. Experts and officials have highly varied on opinion whether’ Kavach’ would have averted the train accident. On Friday night, three trains including Coromendal Express, Bengaluru-Howrah superfast and a goods train collided resulting in death of more than 300 people.
