
President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday conveyed Diwali greetings to the nation, invoking themes of peace, prosperity, and togetherness.
Their messages came ahead of the main celebrations of Deepavali, which is widely observed as the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil.
In her official message, President Murmu extended her best wishes to all citizens in India and abroad.
She described Diwali as an occasion celebrated with immense fervour and one that symbolises mutual affection, spiritual reflection, and universal well-being.
“On this day, devotees worship Goddess Lakshmi, the deity of wealth and prosperity,” she noted.
The President emphasised that the festival is not just a celebration of light but also an opportunity for introspection and self-improvement.
She called upon everyone to remember the less fortunate during the celebrations and bring joy to their lives.
“I urge everyone to celebrate Diwali safely, responsibly, and in an environmentally friendly manner. May this Diwali bring happiness, peace, and prosperity to all,” she said.

A Call for Positivity and Unity
Prime Minister Modi also extended his warm Diwali wishes to the people of India.
In his message, he expressed hope that the festival would bring light into the lives of all and strengthen the collective spirit of the nation.

The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of celebrating Diwali as a time for shared joy, kindness, and unity.
His message reinforced the idea that the festival is not only about rituals but also about fostering a culture of empathy and goodwill.

Several Union Ministers also joined in the nationwide greetings.
Home Minister Amit Shah wished citizens good health and happiness, invoking the blessings of Lord Ram.

Health Minister JP Nadda echoed similar sentiments and wished that the light of knowledge dispel the darkness of ignorance in everyone’s life.

Nadda also prayed for the blessings of Goddess Mahalakshmi, wishing prosperity and good health for all citizens.
