AIIMS-Trained Doctor Reveals 6 Powerful Seeds To Improve Digestion, Energy And Blood Sugar Control

Dr Saurabh Sethi, a gastroenterologist trained at India’s prestigious AIIMS and further educated at Harvard and Stanford Universities, recently took to social media to highlight the health benefits of six underappreciated seeds.

In a video posted on September 17  via Instagram, Dr Sethi called them ‘tiny nutritional powerhouses’ that can offer big health returns when consumed regularly.

Top Seeds & Their Targeted Health Benefits

In his video, Dr Sethi broke down the unique health advantages of each seed, suggesting how they could play a role in preventing and managing everyday health issues. His recommendations included:

  • Fennel Seeds (Saunf): Rich in fibre and volatile oils, fennel seeds aid digestion, reduce bloating, and soothe the gut.
  • Flaxseeds: Packed with lignans and omega-3 fatty acids, flaxseeds support hormonal balance and improve gut health.
  • Chia Seeds: These are among the richest plant-based sources of omega-3s, promoting heart, brain, and joint health.
  • Pumpkin Seeds: High in magnesium, iron, and antioxidants, pumpkin seeds help sustain energy and improve sleep quality.
  • Sesame Seeds: An excellent source of calcium, zinc, and other minerals, sesame seeds help strengthen bones and joints.
  • Fenugreek Seeds (Methi): Known to slow down carbohydrate absorption, fenugreek seeds help regulate blood sugar levels, particularly for those managing diabetes.

How to Add These Seeds to Your Routine

Dr Sethi recommended incorporating these seeds into daily meals, such as sprinkling chia or flaxseeds on smoothies or oats, adding roasted pumpkin seeds to salads, or sipping fennel tea after meals.

For those monitoring blood sugar, soaked fenugreek seeds in the morning could be particularly helpful.

Dr Sethi’s approach promotes preventive health through dietary awareness, urging people to turn to whole foods and functional nutrition rather than over-relying on supplements.

His viral post has already inspired thousands to rethink the way they look at everyday kitchen ingredients.

In the caption, he noted,
