A seven-year-old girl was injured by a pet Pitbull in Shahadra’s Jagatpuri neighborhood in another dog attack incident in the nation’s capital, according to police today.
According to a police officer, the child was playing outside her home on Friday night when the dog attacked her out of the blue and pulled her until neighbors came to her aid.
The officer continued, “The girl’s condition was reported to be out of danger when she was brought to a hospital by her mother.”
To determine the incident’s timeline the police examined nearby CCTV footage and recorded the girl’s mother’s statement.
Shivanand Bhaskar, the owner of the dog, is the subject of a case under Indian Penal Code sections 289 (negligent act with respect to animal) and 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others). An investigationn is underway, according to the police.
Delhi has witnessed several dig bite incidents in the last few weeks. Last week, a two-year-old girl was allegedly mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs in Central Delhi’s Tughlak Road area. On February 15, an autorickshaw driver was thrashed by a man and bitten multiple times by his dog for allegedly asking the owner to keep the pet on a leash.
On January 22, a two-year-old girl was allegedly attacked by a pet dog in northeast Delhi’s Vishwas Nagar. A day before that, a seven-year-old boy was injured in northwest Delhi’s Mahendra Park area after allegedly being attacked by a Pitbull.
