In relation to a FIR filed against Enforcement Directorate officers after the Sandeshkhali raid, the Calcutta High Court today said that no coercive measures be taken against ED’s officers.
According to the Enforcement Directorate, or ED, an attack on them occurred on January 5 in Sandeshkhali in the North 24 Parganas area, resulting in injuring three officials and damaging their personal property.
ED was attacked after they raided Shajahan Sheikh’s residence
They raided Shajahan Sheikh’s home in response to reports of irregularities in the state ration system after which the ED officials were attacked. Four cases were registered in connection with the incident the ED counsel said before the court.
What did the court say?
According to PTI, he said that of these, one was by the ED on the attack on its officials, and another was against its officers. Judge Jay Sengupta orally ordered that no coercive action may be taken in relation to a formal complaint against ED officials for searching Sheikh’s property in Sandeshkhali.
