Last rites of Army Jawan killed in Poonch attack performed in Bihar’s Nawada, huge crowd gathered to pay tribute

With full military honours, Jawan Chandan Kumar’s last rites were done at his ancestral village.

At martyred Army Jawan Chandan Kumar’s ancestral village Naro Murar in Nawada district, a huge crowd gathered to say final goodbyes. People stood in line until late at night to honor the courageous army soldier who was killed in a terrorist attack in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir, a few days ago. Army soldier Chandan Kumar’s body arrived at his hometown of Nawada on Monday evening. An Army convoy brought Kumar’s body to this village, Naromurar.

With full military honours, Jawan Chandan Kumar’s last rites were done at his ancestral village. Hundreds of residents of Naromurar and the surrounding villages gathered outside the home of Kumar, along with high-ranking district administration officials waited in line until late night to pay tribute to the deceased soul. His body was cremated at the nearby crematorium at three in the morning.

On December 21, heavily armed terrorists ambushed two Army vehicles in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the deaths of five soldiers and injuring 2 others, according to officials.

The Army placed a guard of honour around him when his mortal remains arrived at Gaya airport earlier in a specially designed aircraft.

The convoy stopped briefly at Prajatantra Chowk after the wreath-laying ceremony in Gaya, where Chandan Singh, the Lok Sabha MP from Nawada, and Mohd Kamran, the MLA from Govindpur assembly seat, offered floral tributes.

According to his relatives, Kumar got selected in the Army in 2017.
