Madhya Pradesh: PM Modi to clear dues worth Rs 224 crore of Hukumchand Mill employees

On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually present a program and give dues worth Rs 224 crore to employees of the Hukumchand Mill in the city of Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

As per the official release, the Prime Minister will take part in the ‘Mazdooron Ka Hit, Mazdooron ko Samarpit’ event through video conference and present a cheque worth Rs 224 crore.

The programme will mark the settlement of long pending demands of the workers. It stated that the payment of dues would benefit up to 4,800 workers.

Following the closure of the Hukumchand Mill in Indore in 1992 and its liquidation, the workers engaged in a protracted legal battle to recover their dues.

The state Housing & Infrastructure Development Board and labour unions signed a settlement agreement on the Madhya Pradesh government’s initiative, and on December 20, the settlement money was deposited in the high court, according to the release.

In addition, PM Modi will dedicate to the people completing projects worth Rs 105 crore and virtually perform bhumipoojan of various projects worth Rs 322 crore during the function.

Benefits of several central schemes will be distributed during the event by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.

According to the press release, 175 people with disabilities will receive retrofitted scooters on this special day.
