BCCI released the list of players who will be auctioned off in the IPL 2024 On December 19, 2023, at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai. This will mark the inaugural occurrence of the event taking place outside India.
333 players in total —214 Indians and 119 foreigners, including two from associate nations—will be put under the hammer. 116 capped players will participate in the mini-auction, in addition to 215 uncapped players vying for a spot in an IPL team.
Out of 77 slots available for auction 30 slots are currently reserved for foreign players. 23 players have registered their names in the top tier of the INR 2 crore base price bracket, while 13 players with a base price of INR 1.5 crore added their names to the list.
The auction ceremony is scheduled to start at 2:30 PM IST (1:00 PM Local Time) in Dubai.
The names of the top players who recently competed in the World Cup—Josh Inglis, Lockie Ferguson, Steve Smith, Pat Cummins, Harshal Patel, Shardul Thakur, Josh Inglis, Travis Head, Rilee Rossouw, Steve Smith, Gerald Coetzee, and Mitchell Starc—have been placed in the highest base price bracket.
Wanindu Hasaranga is back in the auction pool with a base price of ₹1.5 crore along with teammate Dilshan Madushanka, who is expected to draw some high bids.
The standard young pacers who prefer to practice their craft from IPL to IPL and are priced between ₹20 and ₹30 lakh, include Shivam Mavi, Kartik Tyagi, and the injury-prone Kamlesh Nagarkoti. New Zealander Rachin Ravindra, whose base price is a reasonable ₹50 lakh, is someone everyone will be watching.
