Indian Parliamentary Delegation Arrives In Berlin To Reinforce Anti-Terror Stance

An all-party Indian Parliamentary delegation, led by Bharatiya Janata Party MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, arrived in Berlin on 5 June 2025 to assert India’s united and firm stance against terrorism.

India’s Ambassador to Germany, Ajit V Gupte, received the delegation on Thursday evening and provided a comprehensive briefing on India-Germany relations.

The ambassador highlighted ongoing efforts to expand the strategic partnership and deepen cooperation across sectors such as trade, investment, defence, science and technology, and mobility.

The Indian Embassy in Germany confirmed the delegation’s arrival and briefing via social media, noting, “Discussions included an overview of India-Germany relations, with focus on expanding strategic partnership and growing cooperation in trade, investment, defence, science and technology, and mobility.”

Engagements With German Officials And Think-Tanks

During their visit from 5 to 7 June, the nine-member delegation will engage with senior dignitaries from the German Bundestag, the Federal Foreign Office, key think-tanks, and members of the Indian community in Germany.

This series of interactions aims to strengthen bilateral ties and reinforce shared commitments against terrorism.

The delegation comprises BJP MPs Daggubati Purandeswari, Gulam Ali Khatana, and Samik Bhattacharya; former Union Minister MJ Akbar; Congress MP Amar Singh; Shiv Sena-UBT’s Priyanka Chaturvedi; AIADMK MP M Thambidurai; and former diplomat Pankaj Saran.

Part Of Wider Diplomatic Outreach Following Operation Sindoor

The delegation’s visit forms a vital part of India’s ongoing global diplomatic outreach in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor, launched on 7 May.

This military response followed the deadly terrorist attack on 22 April in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, carried out by Pakistan-sponsored militants, which claimed 26 lives and left many injured.

Following the attack, the Indian Armed Forces conducted precise strikes targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

These operations reportedly resulted in the deaths of over 100 terrorists affiliated with groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen.

As the delegation advances its engagements in Berlin, it emphasises India’s unwavering zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and its commitment to forging stronger international partnerships in the fight against terror.
