On Saturday, three elderly people were killed when a fire ripped through a hospital in Tivoli, near Rome.
A fourth body was discovered in the San Giovanni Evangelista hospital’s morgue, although that victim was believed to have died before the fire broke out soon before 11 p.m. on Friday.
The fire department deployed turntable ladders to assist in the evacuation of approximately 200 individuals from the hospital, including a pregnant woman and several toddlers.
Those who had to be evacuated were transported to hospitals in various regions of Rome for treatment. The deceased, two males and two women ranged in age from 76 to 86.
The fire department reported that the fire had been extinguished and that an investigation was underway to determine the cause.
