US Woman Breaks Guinness World Record For Longest Female Beard, Suffered From PCOS

The record for the longest beard on a living female was broken by a 38-year-old Michigan lady. A Guinness World Records press release said that Erin Honeycutt had been growing her 11.8-inch (29.9 cm) beard for around two years. Vivian Wheeler, a 75-year-old American, held the previous record with a measurement of 25.5 cm.

Polycystic ovarian syndrome, a disorder that leads to hormonal imbalance and irregular menstruation, weight gain, and infertility, is the reason behind enormous hair growth on her face.

‘Erin Honeycutt used to have to shave three times a day. Now, she’s proud of her record-breaking beard,” a video shared on X by GWR reads.

After she turned thirteen, her beard began to develop. She started shaving, waxing, and using hair-removal treatments to get rid of the extra hair because the condition made her feel self-conscious.

“I was probably shaving at least three times a day,” she revealed, adding that she continued doing this throughout her teen years and into her adult life.

But encouraged by his wife Jen, she chose to forgo shaving and let her beard grow during the Covid-lockdown after losing some of her vision as a result of an eye stroke brought on by high blood pressure.

“It really gave me a chance to build my confidence in growing a beard. Wearing masks really helped with building my confidence in going out in public,” she said.

“I never thought that I would be able to attain or achieve a goal that would let me be in a book, and it’s just kind of a nice thing to be recognized for, even though it’s just something that happens naturally for me,” she added.

Ms. Honeycutt said life with such a long beard is a mixed blessing. While it hides her ”double chin”, it ”gets stuck in everything”.
