Bhai Dooj 2023: Know right time, Puja Vidhi and Shubh Muhurat

The celebration of Bhai Dooj, also called Bhai Tika, Bhaubeej, Bhai Phonta, or Bhratri Dwitiya, honours the unique relationship that exists between siblings. In many states, the five-day Diwali celebrations come to an end on this day. Bhai Dooj is observed annually two days following the Festival of Lights. Bhai Dooj will be observed on November 14 and 15, this year.

Pooja Vidhi

Sisters prepare a thali full of sweets, roli, and coconut on this auspicious occasion for their brothers. They apply tilak on their brothers’ foreheads and wish for their long and happy lives. When applying tilak, the sister’s face should face northeast or east, and the brother should face towards north or northwest. Subsequently, siblings give each other Indian sweets and exchange presents to commemorate this wonderful day. Until the pooja is completed, brothers and sisters must fast together.

Bhai Dooj Shubh Muhurat

The sister can send dried coconut and tilak to her brother if the brother is unable to visit for any reason. On the auspicious day of Bhau-beej, women without brothers worship Moon Chandra, as is customary in Maharashtra and Haryana.

Drik Panchang states that Bhai Dooj will begin on November 14 and last until November 15. The Muhurat will begin on Tuesday afternoon and will end on Wednesday.

Bhai Dooj aparahna time: 01:21 PM to 03:33 PM
Duration: 02 Hours 12 Mins
Shubh muhurat on November 14: Dwitiya tithi begins at 02:36 PM
Shubh muhurat on November 15: Dwitiya tithi ends at 01:47 PM

Hindu mythology holds that on Kartik Dwitiya, Goddess Yamuna fed her brother Yamraj in her own house. Since then, Yama Dwitiya has also been observed on this day.
