Supreme Court Collegium Approves Appointments To Gujarat, Punjab And Haryana, And Chhattisgarh High Courts

The Supreme Court Collegium, led by Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna, has approved the appointment of eight judicial officers as judges in the Gujarat High Court.

The Supreme Court Collegium, led by Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna, has approved the appointment of eight judicial officers as judges in the Gujarat High Court.

The decision was made during a meeting held on March 19, which was attended by Chief Justice Khanna, Justice BR Gavai, and Justice Suryakant.

The eight judicial officers approved for elevation to the Gujarat High Court include:

  • Liaquat Hussain Shamsuddin Pirzada
  • Ramchandra Thakurdas Vachhani
  • Jayesh Lakhanshilal Odedra
  • Pranav Maheshbhai Rawal
  • Mool Chand Tyagi
  • Deepak Mansukhlal Vyas
  • Utkarsh Thakorbhaidesai
  • Rohenkumar Kundanlal Chudaval

This significant move aims to strengthen the judicial system in Gujarat by appointing experienced officers from within the state judiciary.

Punjab And Haryana High Court Sees Three Permanent Judges Appointed

In addition to the Gujarat High Court appointments, the Collegium has approved the proposal to appoint three judges to permanent positions in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. These appointments are as follows:

  • Justice Sumit Goyal
  • Justice Sudipti Sharma
  • Justice Kirti Singh

These judges, previously serving as additional judges, have now been confirmed as permanent members of the bench, further bolstering the judiciary in Punjab and Haryana.

Chhattisgarh High Court To Have Additional Justices For One Year

The Collegium also recommended the appointment of three judges from the Chhattisgarh High Court as additional justices for a one-year term. The recommended judges are:

  • Justice Sachin Singh Rajput
  • Justice Radhakishan Aggarwal
  • Justice Sanjay Kumar Jaiswal

This temporary appointment will allow the Chhattisgarh High Court to continue managing its caseload effectively.
