Amritsar Officials Urge Residents To Remain Indoors Following Border Tensions

Amritsar’s District Public Relations Officer (DPRO) has advised all residents to stay indoors, switch off lights, and keep curtains drawn, as tensions between India and Pakistan intensify.

“All citizens are requested to stay indoors and away from the windows, keep lights turned off, and draw the window curtains. There is no need to panic. A siren will blow now, and we will pass the message again once it is clear,” the DPRO stated in a public announcement.

The officer further praised the Indian armed forces for their vigilance and called on the public to fully cooperate.

“Our armed forces are on the job, and we need to support them by staying indoors. There is no need to panic,” the official reiterated.

The advisory follows recent escalations along the border.

Earlier, defence sources confirmed that the Indian Army had intercepted and shot down two Pakistani drones in the Naushera sector of Jammu and Kashmir during an intense exchange of artillery fire.

In a related development, Pakistan reportedly attempted to strike military installations in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur—areas situated close to the International Border.

However, the Indian Armed Forces swiftly countered the offensive.

Taking to X, the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff, however, posted, “Military Stations of Jammu, Pathankot and Udhampur in proximity to the International Boundary, in Jammu & Kashmir targeted by Pakistan using missiles and drones. No losses. Threat neutralised by #IndianArmedForces as per SoP with kinetic & non-kinetic means.”
