Jaishankar Briefs World Leaders On Pakistan’s Escalation; Vows Firm Response

US, EU, and Italy call for de-escalation and support India’s fight against terrorism in talks with EAM S Jaishankar.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Thursday spoke to Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

He urged both sides to de-escalate tensions immediately. Jaishankar also pressed Pakistan to stop supporting terrorist groups.

Rubio Reaffirms Support For Dialogue

In an official statement, the US State Department said Rubio supported direct talks between India and Pakistan. He encouraged both sides to improve communication.

Rubio also expressed condolences for the Pahalgam terror attack and reaffirmed US support to fight terrorism alongside India.

Taking to X, Jaishankar posted, “Spoke with US @SecRubio this evening. Deeply appreciate US commitment to work with India in the fight against terrorism.”

“Underlined India’s targeted and measured response to cross-border terrorism. Will firmly counter any attempts at escalation,” the post added.

Jaishankar also spoke with Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani. He said India’s response to terrorism was ‘targeted and measured’.

The External Affairs Minister warned that any escalation would trigger a strong Indian response.

India Briefs EU On Terror Response

Jaishankar also spoke to the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas.

He repeated India’s stand — the action was precise, but any provocation would invite a firm reply.

The conversations reflect India’s diplomatic outreach amid rising cross-border tensions.
