As tensions between India and Pakistan escalate, the Delhi government has cancelled all leaves for its employees. Officials issued an emergency order on Thursday evening, citing the need for preparedness and emergency response.

Schools Shut Across Multiple States

Authorities in Punjab, Haryana, and Jammu & Kashmir closed all schools, colleges, and universities. Gurugram parents received messages from schools about closures. Punjab announced a three-day shutdown. Jammu & Kashmir extended the closure indefinitely.

Emergency Measures Underway in Delhi

Delhi’s Services Department ordered that no government official will receive leave until further notice. District magistrates held meetings with their teams to review emergency health and disaster response plans.

Rajasthan and other border states followed suit with similar precautionary actions. These included reviewing security protocols and limiting public gatherings.

27 Airports Closed Amid Security Alert

Authorities shut down 27 airports across the country. This follows a suspected Pakistani drone attack in Jammu, Punjab, and Rajasthan on Thursday evening. Indian defence systems thwarted the attacks.

India had earlier launched Operation Sindoor—military strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan—in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. The latest Pakistani drone and missile response triggered blackouts, air raid sirens, and the suspension of an IPL match in Dharamshala.
