Tweet from Anand Mahindra said, “There will be many who will question why we’re spending money on Chandrayaan-3 and indeed, on the entire space program."

After the much awaited unveiling, social media was ablaze with pride and zeal. While others made jokes, some users enthusiastically uploaded memes and messages celebrating ISRO's labour of love.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday said that with the launch of Chandrayaan-3, India today embarked on its historic space journey.

The 2019 movie Mission Mangal, in which Akshay Kumar featured, was largely based on the life of ISRO scientists who worked on India's first Mars Orbiter Mission.

If everything goes according to plan, Chandrayaan-3 will land at the south pole of the moon, a first for a spacecraft.

Chandrayaan-3 may take 40 to 45 days to reach the Moon passing through these different stages...

Chandrayaan-3 is made up of an indigenous Lander Module (LM), a Propulsion Module (PM), and a Rover.

ISRO informed in a tweet that the satellite was injected into a Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit after 19 minutes of flight.

"The launch of the GSLV-F12/NVS-01 mission is scheduled on Monday, May 29 at 10:42 hours IST from the second launch pad at Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota," the Bengaluru-headquartered national space agency said in a release on Monday.

The Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC) of ISRO has undertaken the design & development of a Semicryogenic engine with 2000 kN thrust with Indian industry participation
