After the city police stated they needed to identify every member of the conspiracy, the trial court on December 21 extended the police custody of four accused—including Azad—arrested in the Parliament security breach case till January 5. 

The matter is likely to be mentioned for an urgent hearing before a vacation bench of the high court on Thursday.

During the hearing, Delhi Police told the court that the trial court did not follow proper procedure and the FIR contained sensitive details.

The Delhi High Court underscored the significance of preserving public spaces and asserted that bodies like MCD should not encroach upon them, emphasizing the adherence to the rule of law in the country.

Acknowledging the intricate nature of the surveying process, the central government estimated a timeline of two to three months to finalize surveys for the remaining properties.

The court, taking note of the protracted nature of the case spanning five years, has underscored that this represents the final opportunity for the central government to establish such a policy.
