China

On Tuesday, at 3:03 p.m. Beijing time, China successfully launched the Einstein Probe satellite.

Following the launch, Taiwanese authorities issued an emergency phone warning urging the public to “please beware of your safety”.

The Einstein Probe was launched from the Xichang Satellite Launch Centre in southwestern Sichuan province, approximately 2,000 kilometres (1,243 miles) from Taiwan’s capital Taipei.

The satellite was sent off using the Long March-2C carrier rocket, and it entered its designated orbit.

The satellite will examine unexplained ephemeral occurrences in the universe similar to fireworks, to reveal the violent and little-known aspects of the universe.
