The Enforcement Directorate (ED), Telangana legislator K Kavitha, the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s daughter, in a court filing on Wednesday about its inquiry into the now-cancelled Delhi liquor policy.
The central agency claimed Ms. Kavitha was a prominent part of the “South Group,” which paid at least 100 crore in bribes to leaders of Delhi’s ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) via another arrested businessman Vijay Nair, according to comments made by an arrested Gurugram businessman Amit Arora.
The arrested person, Sh Amit Arora, revealed this in his statements. That ,Sh Vijay Nair received bribes from the South Group, a group controlled by ,Sh Sarath Reddy, Ms. K Kavitha, and Sh Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy, at least to the tune of $100,000,000 on behalf of AAP leaders. The arrested person, Sh Amit Arora, revealed this in his statements “ED said.
The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), or K Kavitha, have not yet responded to the accusation.
These accusations were made by the agency when it asked a local court to order the custody of Amit Arora, the director of the liquor company Buddy Retail Pvt Limited, following his arrest on Tuesday night. Later, the judge ordered that he remain in the ED’s custody until December 7,2022.
The agency further stated in its statement that AAP leaders, including those in the administration, saw the Delhi excise policy as a “device” to raise illegal revenue at the expense of the public treasury.
It said that at least 36 suspects, including Arvind Kejriwal’s chief of staff and the deputy chief minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia, “used or destroyed” 170 phones to hide evidence of “kickbacks” involving thousands of crores of rupees in the alleged scheme.
Accusations of corruption have been dismissed by Mr. Sisodia, the AAP, and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who also blamed the BJP, which controls the government and organizations like the ED and the Central Bureau of Investigation, for the claims (CBI).
The BJP is also at conflict with Telangana Chief Minister KCR, who is getting ready to enter national politics and has begun an all-out battle on the organization.
The Delhi liquor policy, according to the remand report, was supposed to prevent the formation of monopoly and encourage fair trading practices, but it was instead accused of supporting it through a back door.
