Raipur is hosting the annual All-India Conference of Directors General and Inspectors General of Police, which commenced on Friday with Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurating the three-day gathering.
Taking to X, Amit Shah posted, “Leaving for Raipur, Chhattisgarh, to attend the three-day DGP/IGP Conference to be chaired by PM Shri @narendramodi Ji. The deliberations will focus on building the next-level security grid to bulwark citizens from new-age threats. Looking forward to the discussions.”

The high-level event brings together top police officers from across the country to review national security challenges and future policing strategies.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in the Chhattisgarh capital later in the evening and participate in the concluding discussions scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.
Authorities have put in place stringent security measures throughout Raipur and Nava Raipur in anticipation of the Prime Minister’s visit. His convoy will operate under a multi-layered security ring comprising the NSG, SPG, and state police units.
According to the official programme, the Prime Minister will land at Mana Airport around 7 PM and head directly to the Speaker’s House in Nava Raipur, where he will stay during his visit. This visit marks the first time in several years that he has stayed overnight in Chhattisgarh, and it represents only the second time the state has hosted the conference.
PM Modi to Lead Key Sessions and Honour Police Officers
The Prime Minister will attend the final sessions of the conference over the weekend and will present the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service to selected officers. Officials indicated that he may also visit the BJP’s state headquarters, Ekatma Parisar, during his stay.
Another highlight could be his interaction with 25–30 high-achieving students from classes 9 to 12 representing various districts of Chhattisgarh.
Since 2014, the Prime Minister has taken a keen interest in the DGP–IGP conference, often dedicating multiple days to discussions with senior police leadership.
He has consistently encouraged open dialogue on pressing security concerns, from Left-Wing Extremism and border management to cybercrime and the modernisation of policing systems.
Hosting this year’s conference in Chhattisgarh, a state that has recorded significant improvement in law and order and a notable reduction in LWE-related incidents, reflects the Centre’s evolving security approach in the region.
Experts regard the 2025 edition as one of the most important in recent years, as both the Home Minister and the Prime Minister are actively participating. The Prime Minister is expected to return to Delhi after the conference concludes on Sunday evening.
