Vibrant Udupi Prepares Traditional Welcome For PM Modi’s Temple Visit

Udupi prepared an elaborate welcome on Friday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s arrival triggered vibrant decorations across the temple city.

Authorities expected massive crowds for his programmes and implemented extensive security measures to ensure safe and smooth public participation.

Modi will land at Mangaluru Airport at 10.30 a.m. and proceed to Udupi by a special Army helicopter.

He will arrive twenty minutes earlier than scheduled and is expected to reach Udupi by 10.55 a.m., according to officials.

The Prime Minister will lead a roadshow to Sri Krishna Matha as cultural teams perform along the lively designated route.

Organisers arranged continuous flower showers throughout the stretch, enhancing the festive atmosphere surrounding the Prime Minister’s procession.

Three viewing points will present cultural performances, while shops within five kilometres remain closed due to safety requirements.

Modi will enter Sri Krishna Matha through Rathabeedi and first offer prayers at Kanakana Kindi before inaugurating its golden covering. He will visit the Kanakadasa shrine and continue to Madhva Sarovara for tirtha prokshane before receiving Lord Krishna’s darshan.

The Prime Minister will inaugurate the Golden Tirtha Mantapa and meet Ashta Mutt heads before visiting the revered Geeta Mandira. He will reach the Laksha Kantha Parayana platform at 12.10 PM to participate in the monumental chanting programme.

Taking to social media platform X, Prime Minister Modi said, “It is an honour for me to have the opportunity to visit the Udupi Sri Krishna Matha and participate in the Laksha Kantha Gita Parayana programme.”

“This is a special event that brings together people from various sections of society for the recitation of the Gita. This Matha holds a very special significance in our cultural life. Inspired by Sri Madhvacharya, this Matha has been at the forefront of service to society,” the PM added.

Modi expressed honour at joining the Laksha Kantha Gita event celebrating Udupi’s ancient spiritual legacy established by Madhvacharya centuries ago.

More than one lakh devotees, students, monks and scholars will chant Bhagavad Gita verses collectively during this historic spiritual gathering. Modi will address the assembly after the chanting, concluding his visit following a twenty-minute roadshow from Bannanje to Kalsanka.

Police have deployed over 3,000 personnel across Udupi to maintain order and prevent any untoward incidents efficiently.

Authorities have erected two layers of barricades, reserving one for police security and designating the other for the public.

Ten Superintendents of Police (SPs), 27 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DySPs), 49 Police Inspectors, 127 Sub-Inspectors, 232 ASIs, 1,608 constables, 39 women staff, six platoons of the Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP), and six Quick Response Teams (QRT) will be deployed across the coastal city.
