Two ISIS-Inspired Terrorists Arrested In Delhi Ahead Of Diwali

Delhi Police arrests two ISIS-inspired terrorists planning attacks during Diwali; both presented in Patiala House Court and sent on three-day police remand.

Patiala House Court

Delhi Police have arrested two terrorists inspired by ISIS who were planning attacks in the city during Diwali. Police presented the duo in Patiala House Court and placed them on a three-day remand.

Authorities have identified the arrested individuals as 20-year-old Adnan Khan, also known as Abu Muharib, from Delhi, and 21-year-old Adnan Khan from Bhopal.

Investigations revealed that they had completed training for suicide attacks and were in the final stages of preparing improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

The Special Cell of Delhi Police apprehended one suspect from Sadiq Nagar in Delhi and the other from Bhopal, following intelligence inputs. Authorities recovered a wristwatch from the suspects, which was intended to be used as a timer for the explosives.

Targets and ISIS Connections

Initial investigations suggest that the terrorists were targeting a shopping mall and a park in South Delhi.

They had created a messaging group to coordinate their activities and were in contact with a Syrian handler based near the Syria-Turkey border, whom they regarded as their emir.

Officials recovered laptops, mobile phones, and pen drives from the arrested individuals. These devices contained chats, photographs, and documents that indicate adherence to ISIS ideology and plans for terrorist acts.

Intelligence agencies, the National Investigation Agency (NIA), and Delhi Police’s Special Cell are jointly investigating the case. Patiala House Court’s duty magistrate Siddhant Kumar placed both terrorists on a three-day police remand, and the court will hear them again on October 27.

The arrests have averted a potential terrorist attack during Diwali, and security agencies have heightened vigilance across the capital.
