A Bihar woman’s heartfelt Chhathi Maiya song calling PM Modi ‘Modi Bhaiya’ has gone viral ahead of Chhath Puja, soon after the Prime Minister urged citizens to share devotional songs celebrating the festival.

A woman in Bihar has captured public attention with a heartfelt Chhathi Maiya song sung ahead of the upcoming Chhath Mahaparv, in which she fondly refers to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as ‘Modi Bhaiya’.

Her soulful rendition has resonated with listeners and drawn warm reactions from the Prime Minister’s supporters across social media.

The song, which affectionately mentions the Prime Minister, surfaced on the same day that PM Modi launched his campaign in poll-bound Bihar.

The Prime Minister had also appealed to citizens through social media to share Chhath songs that reflect the devotion and cultural spirit of the festival.

Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “The great festival of Chhath, dedicated to nature and culture, is approaching. Devotees across the country, including in Bihar, have already immersed themselves with full devotion in the preparations for it. The songs of Chhathi Maiya enhance the grandeur and divinity of this sacred occasion. I request you to share songs related to Chhath Puja with me as well. I will share them with all fellow citizens over the next few days.”

Following his message, people from different parts of the country, including both men and women, flooded the platform with their own Chhath songs, tagging the Prime Minister in their posts.

Among the many entries, one particular video stood out. It, however, featured a group of women singing a traditional devotional number dedicated to Chhathi Maiya.

In their verses, they affectionately referred to Prime Minister Modi as ‘bhaiya’, expressing warmth and admiration for him.

In the video, the women can be seen performing a popular Chhathi Maiya song. One of them takes the lead with a soulful and touching rendition. She sings a heartfelt version of ‘Bahangi Lachkat Jaye’, captivating listeners with her devotion.

She sings with devotion:

Bhara Lachkat Jaye, Bhara Lachkat Jaye, Bhaiya Jo Hoiye Modi Bhaiya. Bhara Kinkar Jaye, Bhara Kinkar Jaye, Bhara Chhathi Mai Ke Jaaye

The performance beautifully blends traditional folk rhythm with a heartfelt, contemporary sentiment.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi addressed a rally in Samastipur as part of his Bihar election campaign. The event coincided with the festive atmosphere, as people across the state made final preparations for Chhath Puja, which begins tomorrow.

Chhath Puja is one of the most revered Hindu festivals in India. It is celebrated mainly in Bihar, Jharkhand, and eastern Uttar Pradesh, as well as in parts of Nepal. The festival also holds deep significance among the Indian diaspora across the world.

This year, the four-day observance will take place from Saturday, 25 October, to Tuesday, 28 October.

Also known as Surya Shashti, Dala Chhath, and Chhath Parv, the festival symbolises discipline, purity, and gratitude towards nature.

Dedicated to the worship of the Sun God and his sister Chhathi Maiya, the celebration underscores devotion, thankfulness, and prayers for the well-being of one’s family.
