Before the wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant at the Jio World Convention Centre, Nita Ambani, the chairperson and founder of the Reliance Foundation, showcased the meticulous preparations for the event in a video shared on the official Reliance Industries Limited handle on X. The preparations were inspired by Kashi, also known as Varanasi, the “city of light.”

The video was accompanied by the caption, “In line with Reliance Foundation Founder & Chairperson Mrs. Nita Ambani’s vision of sharing India’s rich cultural heritage with the world, the Ambani family will be paying homage to the holy city of Kashi or Varanasi at the much-awaited wedding celebrations of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant.”

Nita Ambani began the video with, “Namaskar. Jai Kashi Vishwanath. For me and my family, it has always been important to seek the blessings of our devis and devtas before any auspicious beginning.” She expressed her joy in reimagining and presenting the purity, positivity, and beauty of Varanasi at the wedding, emphasizing the grace of gods and goddesses, the blessings of priests and saints, and the sanctity of rituals and traditions.

In the video, Nita Ambani wore a 28 chauk jaal Rangkat saree adorned with delicate floral motifs and hues of zari, designed by Manish Malhotra in collaboration with Swadesh. This saree, a tribute to India’s master artisans, took over six months to create and was woven by select weavers showcasing a rare skill passed down through generations.
