PM Modi Celebrates India’s Champion Women’s Blind Cricket Team After Historic World Cup Triumph

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met India’s women’s blind cricket team after they returned home as champions of the inaugural Blind Women’s T20 World Cup.

He hailed their historic win and praised the team for showing grit, teamwork, and determination throughout the tournament.

On Wednesday, PM Modi welcomed the players and congratulated them personally.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi called their undefeated run a remarkable achievement.

He also posted on social media, saying, “Congratulations to the Indian Blind Women’s Cricket Team for creating history! More commendable is that they stayed unbeaten in the series.”

PM Modi added that every player is a champion and that their dedication will inspire future generations.

Victory Symbolises True Courage

India lifted the trophy in Colombo after defeating Nepal’s women’s blind cricket team by seven wickets in the final.

The team displayed dominance in every match. India beat the women’s blind squads of Sri Lanka, Australia, the United States, and Pakistan in the league stage.

They overpowered Australia again in the semi-final to secure a spot in the final. Blind cricket uses a special white plastic ball filled with bearings.

The ball produces sound, allowing visually challenged players to sense its movement.

This modified setup enables them to bat, bowl, and field with confidence and skill. During the meeting at his residence, PM Modi spent time interacting warmly with the players.

They posed for photographs, exchanged handshakes, and shared light conversations. The team gifted him an autographed bat.

PM Modi, in return, signed a ball for them. The players wore their medals proudly as they enjoyed a meal with the Prime Minister.

Prime Minister Modi told the players their victory represented far more than a sporting triumph.

He said it represented courage, perseverance, and unwavering spirit. He urged the country to take inspiration from its journey and celebrate its remarkable dedication.

The team’s win marks a significant milestone for Indian sports. Their success proves that determination can overcome any limitation.

As the first-ever champions of the Blind Women’s T20 World Cup, these players have opened doors for future athletes and strengthened India’s legacy in inclusive sports.
