Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch discussions on advanced policing strategies during the 60th All India Conference of DGs and IGs of Police, beginning in Raipur on 29 November.
The annual conference serves as a crucial platform to assess progress in national security and to deliberate on future policing strategies.
This year’s theme, ‘Viksit Bharat: Security Dimensions’, underscores the government’s focus on aligning security reforms with the broader national vision of a developed India.
The conference will undertake detailed deliberations on major security challenges, including Left Wing Extremism, counter-terrorism operations, disaster management, and women’s safety.
A significant portion of the discussions will centre on enhancing the application of Artificial Intelligence and forensic science to strengthen policing efficiency.
PM Modi is also expected to chart a forward-looking roadmap to build a ‘Surakshit Bharat’, focusing on robust internal security mechanisms that support the nation’s developmental goals.
During the conference, PM Modi will present the President’s Police Medals for Distinguished Service, acknowledging exemplary contributions by senior officers in maintaining law and order and responding to internal security threats.
A Crucial Platform for National Security Dialogue
Senior police leaders, security officials, and policymakers regard the DG-IG Conference as a vital interactive forum where they engage in open discussions on emerging security issues.
The platform facilitates exchanges on operational challenges, infrastructure gaps, welfare concerns, and best professional practices in policing.
Prime Minister Modi has consistently encouraged transparent and innovative dialogues at this annual meet, fostering an environment conducive to fresh ideas and modern policing strategies.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the conference will feature business sessions, break-out group interactions, and thematic dining discussions.
These settings will allow participants to share insights and suggestions directly with the Prime Minister on critical policy and security matters.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Ministers of State for Home Affairs, DGPs of all States and Union Territories, and heads of Central Police Organisations will attend the conference.
To infuse new perspectives, selected senior officers at the DIG and SP levels, along with Heads of State Home Departments, will participate physically, ensuring a wider representation of on-ground policing expertise.
