Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia Files Nomination From Guna Seat

In preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Jyotiraditya Scindia submitted his nomination papers on Tuesday for the Guna parliamentary constituency.

State BJP president VD Sharma, former chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav were present in the event.

In addition, Scindia conducted a roadshow earlier to submitting his nomination for the next local elections. The BJP candidate filed his candidacy papers earlier in the day after offering prayers at the Hanuman Temple.

After worshipping, Scindia told ANI, “I have just taken the blessings of the ‘Tekri sarkar’ and now we are moving forward on the path of public service.”

Rao Yadavendra Singh, a candidate from the Congress party, is running against Scindia for the seat.

The political hegemony of the Scindia family has long been associated with the Guna Lok Sabha constituency in Madhya Pradesh. Considered their second-strongesthold after Gwalior, it has been represented over the years by notable members of the Scindia family.

Notably, this place has witnessed the political triumph of Vijayaraje Scindia, Madhavrao Scindia, and Jyotiraditya Scindia. After winning four elections here, Jyotiraditya Scindia of Congress lost by 1.25 lakh votes to Krishnapal Singh Yadav of the BJP in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

After losing by 1.25 lakh votes on his home ground, Scindia faced a number of challenges, including internal party strife, which ultimately led to his resignation from the party in 2020.

He took 22 MLAs with him, which led to the fall of Kamal Nath’s Congress government, which was elected in 2018. Through the Rajya Sabha, the BJP promoted Scindia to Union minister and allowed him to enter Parliament.

The cabinet minister is being challenged by Rao Yadvendra Singh, a rival congressman who is also a former BJP leader, in the Guna seat, where Scindia is running again under BJP flag.

Along with eight other state legislative seats, Guna will be running in the third phase of the election on May 7.
