Delhi-NCR Weather: IMD Predicts Rain, Lightning & Thunderstorms

Delhi-NCR is likely to face another spell of unsettled weather on Wednesday, September 16, with partly cloudy skies, rain and thunderstorms expected across several areas.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast continued wet conditions over Delhi and adjoining parts of northwest India. Isolated heavy rainfall may occur over Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh and Punjab, while thunderstorms and lightning could affect isolated areas.

Gusty winds and brief spells of rain may accompany the thunderstorms in some places, rather than bringing continuous rainfall throughout the day.

The IMD expects the wet spell to continue into Thursday, with fairly widespread to widespread rainfall across Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Punjab. Isolated areas may also receive heavy showers.

Bihar could see rain and thunderstorms on Wednesday, with showers in several areas. Some parts may also experience lightning and gusty winds.

Odisha is likely to remain partly cloudy, with rain and thunderstorms expected in several districts. The IMD has warned of lightning and gusty winds in isolated areas.

Rajasthan may experience increasing cloud cover, followed by rain and thunderstorms in some areas. The IMD has issued thunderstorm and lightning warnings for East and West Rajasthan, with gusty winds possible at isolated locations.

Himachal Pradesh may see partly cloudy skies and scattered afternoon showers. Haryana could receive rain, with morning thunderstorms and afternoon thundery showers.

Uttar Pradesh may experience cloudy periods, light morning rain and brief afternoon showers. Isolated thunderstorms could also occur.

Uttarakhand is likely to receive light to moderate rain and thundershowers at a few places. The IMD has warned of thunderstorms, lightning and intense to very intense rainfall at isolated locations, particularly across the hill districts.

Elsewhere, isolated heavy rain could affect the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Kerala, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on September 16.
