Proposal To Bring Ashes Of Freedom Fighter Chandrashekhar Azad

A proposal has been submitted to transfer the ashes of Amar Shaheed Chandrashekhar Azad, a prominent Indian freedom fighter, from the Lucknow Museum to Prayagraj, where he made the ultimate sacrifice. The initiative aims to reunite Azad’s relics in one place, allowing millions of devotees and tourists visiting the Maha Kumbh 2025 to pay their respects.

The Allahabad Museum has sent a letter to the Lucknow Museum, requesting the transfer of the ashes, which is expected to be approved by Governor Anandi Ben Patel. Azad’s Colt pistol and an interactive gallery are already on display at the Allahabad Museum, making it an ideal location to house his ashes.

Chandrashekhar Azad was martyred in Alfred Park (now Chandrashekhar Azad Park) during a fierce encounter with British police in 1931. Efforts have been ongoing to bring his ashes to Prayagraj, the land of his sacrifice, and the upcoming Maha Kumbh 2025 has provided the perfect opportunity.

According to Director Shrishti Dhawan of the Lucknow Museum, the Colt pistol has been a major attraction for tourists, and the addition of Azad’s ashes will further enhance the experience. A top-level discussion will be held to finalize the decision on the proposal.
