Mahua Moitra, a leader of Trinamool Congress (TMC) and a member of Lok Sabha, was accessed to her government account 47 times from Dubai, according to sources close to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
This revelation happened.A day before the TMC leader’s scheduled appearance before the Lok Sabha’s Ethics Committee, which is looking into claims of “cash-for-query” made by Supreme Court attorney Jai Anant Dehadrai.
Mahua Moitra acknowledged sharing her login details with her longtime friend and businessman Darshan Hiranandani. She did, however, vehemently refute any financial motivation and assert that the queries made with her account were solely her own.
Mahua Moitra made 14 unreported trips abroad while serving as a member of parliament, according to sources. The BJP sources further claimed that no relevant information about these trips was given to the Speaker’s office.
On the basis of Dehadrai’s complaint, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey wrote to the ethics panel and then to Speaker Om Birla of the Lok Sabha, claiming that the TMC MP used her parliamentary account to raise questions at the behest of businessman Darshan Hiranandani.
According to Dubey’s letter, these acts were allegedly carried out in return for financial gains and perks from Hiranandani, who is connected to a well-known Dubai-based business family.
In addition, Nishikant Dubey brought up the accusation that Hiranandani paid Mahua Moitra money for questioning Gautam Adani and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Lok Sabha—a claim that the Trinamool leader has flatly denied.
