Liquor bottles stolen by crowd in Bihar’s Siwan after car meets with accident

For all the wrong reasons, a recent video of a car accident in Siwan, Bihar, went viral. Hundreds of liquor bottles that the car was transporting are seen being stolen by people who are seen encircling the vehicle in the video.

The driver of the car fled the scene of the collision shortly after it happened out of fear of being arrested. Bihar has outlawed the sale of alcoholic beverages since 2016.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had earlier requested that the routes taken by smugglers of alcohol from other states into Bihar be located.

The CM had requested that the state’s supply of alcohol be curtailed, along with a strict enforcement of the prohibition law. On Monday, Kumar chaired a meeting in his office with high-ranking officials, asking them to list the routes that are being used to smuggle alcohol from other states into Bihar.

In Bihar, a liquor ban was implemented in April 2016.
