Hours after going shopping with her husband for Karwa Chauth, a woman in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, is said to have eloped with her brother-in-law, according to police on Wednesday. In an attempt to find his wife and kids, the husband has called the police for assistance. He said he would fast for his wife’s death.
The incident happened in Meerut’s Jaani neighbourhood. Priya and Ashok got married in 2019. The couple appeared content after getting married and had an 18-month-old son.
But Ashok arrived at the Meerut SP’s office on Tuesday to inform them that his wife had eloped with Rahul, his brother-in-law. Ashok, a labourer, claimed that after returning from work, he found out that his wife had eloped with another man. He reported to the police that Rahul had visited their home and had brought his wife and kids along.
Ashok reported to the police that he had gone shopping with his wife on Karwa Chauth. Additionally, he stated that his spouse fled with jewellery valued at Rs. 15,000.
Regarding the matter, Ashok has lodged a police complaint.
SP Meerut Kamlesh Bahadur affirmed that the matter is currently being investigated further after a complaint was filed.
