SC warns Patanjali of making “false” & “misleading” Ads; company says, give death sentence if guilty

Patanjali Ayurved said it has a “database of more than one crore people, with real world evidence, preclinical and clinical evidence,” a day after the apex court warned the company against making “false” and “misleading” claims in advertisements about its medicines as cures for several diseases.

Further, the company said it humbly respects the court and “if we make false advertisements or propaganda, we would not have any objections if honourable court imposes a fine of crores or even give us a death sentence.”

Ramdev stated at a press conference in Haridwar that the Supreme Court ought to have heard their side as well.

Ramdev declared that he was prepared to personally submit all relevant facts, clinical data, and scientific research papers to the court to substantiate his allegations if given the chance.

Ramdev asserted that Ayurveda and yoga can treat serious illnesses.

On August 23, 2022, the Supreme Court sent notices to the Union Health Ministry, the Ministry of Ayush, and Patanjali Ayurved Ltd. This was in response to the IMA’s plea, which claimed that Ramdev had launched a smear campaign against the vaccination campaign and contemporary medications.

In its statement, Patanjali said, “We would like emphasise that we are not spreading any false propaganda. Hundreds of therapies of Yoga, Ayurveda, Naturopathy, Panchakarma, Shatkarma, fasting and with the integrated treatment of system, we have made thousands of people free from several diseases like BP, sugar, thyroid, asthma, arthritis, obesity, liver and kidney failure, and cancer.”
