Lalu Yadav, the supremo of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), is reportedly prepared to offer Congress, a member of the INDIA alliance, nine seats in Bihar in the next Lok Sabha polls.
According to sources, the Congress may be able to run for the state’s seats in Kishanganj, Katihar, Sasaram, Patna Sahib, Betia, Muzzaffarpur, Samastipur, Bhagalpur, and either Madhepura or Supaul.
But because some “conditions apply,” the elderly party should carefully consider the offer and “read the offer document.”
According to the former Bihar Chief Minister’s request and riding requirements, the Congress should consent to give the RJD two seats in neighboring Jharkhand in place of the nine seats offered in the state.
In the state that is administered by the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, the RJD has declared its intention to run for the seats of Chatra and Palamu.
If Lalu Yadav’s offer of a quid pro quo in its purest form is rejected by the Congress, the party may have to settle for six or seven seats in Bihar.
In Bihar, the RJD seems to have announced its candidates and given party tickets to them before the alliance partners could have agreed on a seat-sharing arrangement.
The RJD’s “unilateral distribution” of tickets has been the source of growing enmity between the Congress and the party for a while.
