Soren will become Jharkhand’s first leader to serve four terms as Chief Minister. He previously held the post in 2013, 2019, and briefly in 2024 after his release from jail. Before him, Shibu Soren and Arjun Munda served three terms each

The division of the 70 seats between JMM and Congress remains undecided. Discussions with alliance partners will continue to finalize the seat-sharing details

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a sharp attack on the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), and Congress during a public rally in Jamshedpur on Sunday. He labeled these parties as the "enemies" of Jharkhand.

The incident took place when women MLAs were shouting slogans against Nitish Kumar inside the Bihar assembly.

Following the Centre's clear stance against granting special status, the RJD, Bihar's main opposition party, criticized the JDU, which governs the state in alliance with the BJP.

Bihar is currently engaged in voting across all phases of the Lok Sabha elections. The third phase of general elections will see voting in Jhanjharpur, Supaul, Aratia, Madhepura, and Khagaria. Vote counting is scheduled for June 4.

Notably, the Janata Dal (United) is contesting the Lok Sabha elections as part of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), following Kumar's departure from the opposition coalition he had previously supported.

Tejashwi Yadav also seized the opportunity to outline additional pledges, including the assurance of providing government jobs to one crore youth nationwide if the INDIA bloc, led by the RJD, assumes power.

The RJD's "unilateral distribution" of tickets has been the source of growing enmity between the Congress and the party for a while.

Three weeks have passed since Tejashwi Yadav's party was voted out of power on January 28 when Chief minister Nitish Kumar severed ties with the RJD and teamed up with the BJP to form a new government.
