Amethi: Union Minister and the BJP’s candidate in Amethi Smriti Irani, accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Congress of failing to develop the city on Friday. The administration at the Centre was led by his ‘mataji’ (mother, Sonia Gandhi), while the government in Uttar Pradesh was supported by them. But Rahul Gandhi never considered Amethi’s growth, Irani remarked while addressing with members of Yadav community at her house here.
Irani defeated Rahul Gandhi in Amethi during the 2019 elections. The Congress party has yet to pick their candidate for the 2024 Lok Sabha election from this constituency. Irani claimed that the Gandhi family, particularly Rahul Gandhi, wanted the people of Amethi to stay destitute. That is why they find it difficult to accept that a poor man’s son has been appointed as India’s prime minister.
The Congress and the Gandhi family are unable to accept Narendra Modi, who rose from poverty to become the country’s ‘pradhan sevak’ (chief servant) with the blessings of all of you through hard work, commitment, and honesty, according to the Amethi MP.
Irani stated that comparing Rahul Gandhi’s 15 years to her five years as MP reveals how much the Gandhi family ignored Amethi. What they (Congress) did not achieve in 50 years and what Rahul Gandhi did not do in 15 years, the double engine government in Amethi has done in five years, she said.
