Social media users have shared a video of Punjabi residents building a copy of Statue of Liberty to bring a bit of New York City to their neighborhood. Residents of Tarn Taran are seen erecting the famous statue atop a structure that is still under construction in the footage that has gone viral on the internet.
When the video was uploaded by X user Alok Jain it showed residents putting replica on building’s roof. The complete edifice is then shown in the film, along with a crane that is positioned at the construction site, as it pans out. “The third liberty statue is installed somewhere in Punjab,” Mr. Jain wrote, sharing the video on X.
The video has received over 3,16,000 views, 2,300 likes, several retweets, and comments since it was shared. People were amused by the video and responded with a range of hilarious comments in the comments section.
A user said, ”Must be a water tank. You will find aeroplanes, SUVs and whatnot shaped water tanks in Punjab.” Second commented, ”What happens when you don’t get a visa to your desired foreign country.”
A third explained, ”5 years back we did a culture research in Punjab, and to our surprise we found many families installing water tanks shaped as airplane, Statue of liberty, Big Ben etc. This was a way of showing others that one of the sons / family member has moved abroad (even if they are driving a taxi there).”
