A Maharashtra-based company and its two directors have been found guilty of cheating and criminal conspiracy related to irregularities in the allocation of coal mines in the state. This marks the 16th conviction in cases associated with the coal scam. The sentencing hearing is scheduled for May 28.

Special Judge Sanjay Bansal of the Rouse Avenue Court has convicted BS Ispat Limited and its directors, Mohan Agarwal and Rakesh Agarwal, under sections 420 (cheating) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code. The judge emphasized that the prosecution successfully proved the charges beyond a reasonable doubt.

Case Details
The case involves irregularities in the allotment of the ‘Marki-Mangali-1’ coal block to the Maharashtra-based company. Those found guilty could face up to seven years of imprisonment, and the company may be subject to fines. The prosecution’s case was presented by Special Public Prosecutor RS Cheema, Additional Legal Advisor Sanjay Kumar, and Advocate AP Singh.
