On Monday, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath provided an update on the rapid preparations for Maha Kumbh 2025, asserting that the event’s success is a result of close coordination between the Central and State Governments, as well as various departments.
CM Adityanath addressed the media after a review meeting in Prayagraj and highlighted the immense efforts that the team is making to ensure a seamless experience for devotees and visitors.
The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister stated, “Every institution is actively engaged to ensure the success of this grand event.”
CM Yogi emphasized that the Maha Kumbh is not just a religious event, but also a remarkable chance for Prayagraj to highlight its exceptional hospitality. He encouraged the people of Prayagraj to join forces in ensuring the event’s success and enhancing the city’s global stature.
The Chief Minister announced that preparations for the grand ‘Sanatan Gaurav Maha Kumbh’ are progressing smoothly.
“So far, land has been allocated to over 20,000 saints and institutions through a comprehensive registration process. This includes allotments to all 13 Akharas, Dandiwada, Acharyawada, Prayagwal Sabha, Khak Chowk, and others. Efforts are ongoing to complete the allocation process for remaining and newly registered institutions by 5 January,” UP CM asserted.
CM Yogi assured the public that the ‘double-engine government’ will provide all necessary resources, including land and infrastructure, to ensure the event’s success.
The Chief Minister outlined key developments and ongoing preparations for the Maha Kumbh 2025 in his address.
CM Yogi revealed that the number of pontoon bridges for Maha Kumbh has increased from 22 to 30, a first for the event. With 20 already completed, work is underway to finish the remaining bridges by 30 December 30.
Additionally, officials have laid 330 kilometers of checkered plates out of the planned 651 kilometers, with the work progressing on schedule.
The installation of signage is also well underway, with 250 signages already in place at the fairgrounds and 661 signages across the city.
To ensure clean and uninterrupted flow in the Ganga, the Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam is working diligently, and the Irrigation Department is managing the water levels at the confluence.
Clean water from the Ganga and Yamuna ensures that both bathing and drinking water meet the highest quality standards.
According to a press release, functional STPs at multiple locations prevent industrial effluents, sewage, and drainage from entering the rivers. Additionally, authorities are employing bioremediation and geo-tube techniques for water purification.
The release further added that regarding infrastructure, the Power Corporation is building 85 substations of 400 KVA, with 77 already finished.
Out of 14 substations of 250 KVA, 12 are operational, while 94 of 128 substations of 100 KVA are up and running.
Additionally, officials have installed 1,160 kilometers of LT lines, 160 kilometers of HT lines, and approximately 48,000 LED streetlights.
Prayagraj will, for the first time, have a riverfront along the Ganga, complete with newly built concrete ghats. The release states that authorities will likely complete the ghat in Arail by 30 December.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated, “All permanent and temporary works are being executed on a war footing, including the construction of jetties. The Health Department has established a temporary 100-bed hospital and is setting up multiple 25-bed facilities at various locations. First aid boxes and medical assistance are also being arranged to ensure comprehensive healthcare services during the event.”
He further asserted that the newly developed corridors will offer devotees visiting Prayagraj for the first time during the Maha Kumbh a unique glimpse of the city’s heritage.
“The Akshay Vat Corridor, inaugurated by the Prime Minister, is now open for visitors. Devotees will also have the opportunity to explore the Bade Hanuman Ji Corridor, also known as Lete Hue Hanuman Ji Corridor,” CM Yogi remarked.
He further noted, “Additionally, the Saraswati Koop Corridor, Patalpuri Corridor, and Maharishi Bhardwaj Corridor have completed, while the Lord Ram and Nishad Raj Corridor in Shringaverpur have developed.”
“Beautification and facade lighting of significant pilgrimage sites like Dwadash Jyotirlinga, Nagvasuki Temple, and other prominent shrines have also completed. A replica of the Dwadash Jyotirlinga, crafted by the Municipal Corporation, adds to the city’s spiritual appeal,” he said.
The Chief Minister highlighted the development of Triveni Pushp, a project initiated by former Governor Kesari Nath Tripathi, in collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department and Parmarth Ashram.
At the same time, work on a Tent City is progressing quickly. Managed by the Prayagraj Mela Authority, it will accommodate 20,000 devotees, with additional VIP tents for 5,000 to 6,000 people at various sites. The release states that authorities have implemented strong security measures across the fairgrounds.
For the first time, authorities have deployed trained ‘Apda Mitras’ alongside NDRF and SDRF teams to assist devotees during the Maha Kumbh.
