Swami Ramabhadracharya: Bhagwat’s Temple-Mosque Views ‘Personal’, Not Reflective Of Hinduism

Addressing a recent statement by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat, spiritual leader Swami Rambhadracharya clarified that Bhagwat’s views on temple-mosque controversies are personal and not reflective of Hinduism.

“He leads the Sangh not Hinduism,” Rambhadracharya remarked during a Ram Katha event in Kandivali’s Thakur Village.

Bhagwat had earlier stated, “Certain individuals raise issues around temples and mosques to position themselves as leaders of Hindus, especially concerning the Ram Mandir.”

In response, Rambhadracharya asserted, “This could be his personal opinion, and we have no connection with it. He may lead the Sangh, but he does not represent Hinduism. Our focus remains on the discipline and truth of the faith. Wherever ancient Hindu temples are verified, we will work to restore them. This is not a new idea but a part of our cultural and religious preservation.”

The spiritual leader also expressed sorrow over recent violence in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, terming the loss of lives ‘tragic’ and calling for stronger Hindu unity.

On the persecution of Hindu minorities in Bangladesh, he urged the Indian government to take firm measures, requesting Prime Minister Narendra Modi to adopt a tougher stance.

Shifting focus to the upcoming Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Rambhadracharya praised the event.

“The Maha Kumbh Mela signifies our rich culture and promotes spiritual values,” he added.

The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025, likely to commence on 13 January with the Paush Purnima Snan and conclude on 26 February with Maha Shivratri, is considered the largest public gathering globally, occurring once every 12 years.

During the seven-day Ram Katha discourse, Swami Ramabhadracharya aimed to inspire positive change in devotees’ lives and reaffirm faith in Sanatan values.
