At just nine years old, he and his friends set up a food stall to raise funds for flood relief efforts after the Tapi River floods.
During the peak of the war with Pakistan, he also served tea to soldiers heading to and returning from the border.
At 17, PM Modi left home to travel across India and later joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), a socio-cultural organisation.
His days at the RSS began early at 5:00 AM and extended late into the night. As a young man, he actively participated in the movement against the Emergency.
