Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday highlighted the success of India’s e-Sanjeevani telemedicine platform, which has completed nearly 50 crore teleconsultations.
Speaking during the latest episode of his monthly radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’, he praised Indians for adopting technology and integrating it into their daily lives.
PM Modi described e-Sanjeevani as an example of how technology can make healthcare more accessible. He said its success reflected the dedication of doctors and the trust patients placed in the platform.
The Prime Minister noted that the service had reached remote parts of the country, helping patients consult specialists without travelling long distances.
Sharing examples, PM Modi spoke about Oho-Tahane, a child from the Jarawa tribe on Baratang Island in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. When the child developed a high fever and breathing difficulties, local health workers consulted a specialist through e-Sanjeevani. The doctor diagnosed pneumonia, and the child’s condition improved with treatment.
In Lakshadweep’s Kalpeni, a 60-year-old man, Kunhi Koya, received medical assistance after falling ill. A doctor in Kavaratti guided the local healthcare team through the platform.
PM Modi also mentioned Kunjang Dolma in Ladakh’s Zanskar, who received specialist support during pregnancy complications. In Nagaland’s Peren, 12-year-old Mushem received a diagnosis and medication for an ear infection and fever.
PM Modi highlighted nearly 1.90 lakh Ayushman Arogya Mandirs promoting regular check-ups and preventive care. e-Sanjeevani connects patients with doctors through digital consultations, offering services at these centres and directly to people at home.
PM Modi said the combination of digital technology and stronger primary healthcare was improving access to medical services, particularly in rural and underserved areas.
