PM Modi Says World Will Soon Discuss Made-in-India Aircraft; Praises Pilot Smit Machchhar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday highlighted Captain Smit Machchhar’s bravery while outlining India’s ambition to manufacture aircraft for the global market.

Addressing the ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sabha’ in New Delhi, PM Modi recalled how the Indian flydubai pilot earned worldwide recognition after thwarting an alleged in-flight hijacking attempt on September 30. Machchhar’s actions helped save passengers aboard the flight.

“Today, India’s pilot is being discussed across the world. One day will also come when, just as India’s pilots are being discussed today, the world will talk about Made in India planes,” PM Modi said.

He stressed that India can achieve such goals through visionary policies and sustained effort. He said the country faces several challenges but has 140 crore potential solutions.

PM Modi urged India’s youth to seize the historic opportunity created by the country’s large young population. He said India is taking steps to become a developed, modern nation.

He outlined goals ranging from global startup and sporting success to leadership in disaster management, genetics, quantum computing and artificial intelligence.

Prime Minister said an Indian should eventually set foot on the Moon, while Indian universities should enter the world’s top rankings.

Prime Minister Modi said global consumers should seek Indian products, while farmers’ produce should reach dining tables worldwide. He said the world should adopt Indian solutions for climate change, water governance and poverty reduction.

He called for collective energy and focus towards these objectives. India, he said, has 140 crore dreams, limitless energy and immense potential.

PM Modi urged citizens to dedicate their innovation, research, creativity, strength and hard work to the country. “Now, to build a Viksit Bharat, we have to live for the country,” he said.
