PM Modi Says India Moved From ‘Policy Paralysis’ To ‘Reform Express’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said India has undergone a major transformation since 2014, moving from what he described as ‘policy paralysis’ to an era of rapid reforms and stronger economic resilience.

Addressing the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sabha in New Delhi, PM Modi recalled the challenges facing the country when he became Prime Minister in 2014.

He said India was experiencing low growth, high inflation and widespread disappointment, with doubts about its economic prospects.

PM Modi said he responded by calling upon the collective strength of Indians and giving them the confidence that the country could overcome its challenges. He said the situation has changed significantly over the past 12 years.

Comparing the two periods, PM Modi said crises once shook the Indian economy, while India’s strength and resilience are now recognised globally.

He pointed to the shift from discussions around ‘policy paralysis’ to the ‘reform express’, rising exports and the growing presence of Made-in-India products.

He cited mobile manufacturing and solar power as examples of this transformation, saying India has moved from importing mobile phones to producing them domestically, while its expanding solar capacity has gained global attention.

PM Modi highlighted agriculture as another example of change, saying 2015–2025 recorded the highest sustained agricultural growth since Independence.

He said ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ remains the foundation of good governance, stressing that development should benefit everyone regardless of caste or community.
