Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said he had never entered politics with the ambition of contesting elections, adding that his upbringing and values taught him to live not for ambition but for a mission.

He urged people to renew their resolve to build a developed India and repeatedly called for collective determination under the spirit of ‘Sabka Prayas’.
PM Modi said completing 25 years as head of government was not a personal achievement. He recalled serving tribal communities, working in the mountains and following the BJP’s organisational path 25 years ago.
He said he had never contested an election and had no early ambition for electoral politics. Instead, he focused on fulfilling every responsibility assigned to him.
PM Modi said selfless action for the country had remained the purpose of his life. Citing the Bhagavad Gita’s teaching of ‘Karmanyevadhikaraste’, he said he regarded action as his duty and devotion to the nation.
PM Modi said the country gave him opportunities, while people trusted him and circumstances taught him valuable lessons.
He said his 25-year journey should be judged by India’s progress, not his personal achievements.
Recalling his tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister, PM Modi said he believed Gujarat’s development would drive India’s progress. He acknowledged his limited government and administrative experience when he took charge.
He said his faith in people became his strength, with policies shaped through public participation.
PM Modi said this spirit continues to guide his vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047, a self-reliant India and a stronger global presence.
