In a candid interview on Tuesday, senior Congress leader Pawan Khera made strong remarks about the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its national convenor Arvind Kejriwal. He said that if Congress had been given the choice, Kejriwal would not have been included in the opposition’s INDIA bloc.
Khera’s View on AAP’s Inclusion in INDIA Bloc
Khera emphasized that Congress did not take the decision to include Kejriwal in the alliance nor did they push him out. Instead, he claimed, Kejriwal “dumped himself out.”
He further stated, “If Congress was given a choice, I don’t think he (Arvind Kejriwal) would have been a part (of the INDIA alliance).”
Additionally, Khera took issue with AAP’s decision to contest assembly elections in Haryana and Delhi independently. He expressed that while Congress attempted to maintain unity within the alliance, the actions of AAP had complicated the situation.

He referred to Kejriwal’s behavior as an example of “megalomania,” suggesting that such traits were beyond remedy.
Khera also hinted that the Delhi assembly elections would be crucial in determining the future of AAP, stating that it would show whether Kejriwal’s political influence would remain significant.
No Likely Support for AAP in Case of Hung Assembly
On the possibility of Congress supporting AAP in the event of a hung assembly in Delhi, Khera expressed skepticism. He stated that such a scenario was unlikely, as he believed the people of Delhi would vote decisively, as they had in the past.
Khera also mentioned that in the unlikely event of a hung assembly, fresh elections would likely follow.
Congress Criticizes AAP
Despite both Congress and AAP being part of the INDIA bloc at the national level, their relationship has been strained, especially in Delhi.
Congress has increasingly criticized AAP for its lack of development in the capital and its alleged involvement in corruption, particularly the delay in the Comptroller and Auditor General’s (CAG) reports and the alleged scam related to the scrapped Delhi excise policy.

In a final jab at AAP and Kejriwal, Khera boldly declared, “AAP and Kejriwal are a threat to democracy,” underlining the growing friction between the two parties.
