On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi immersed himself in the sacred waters of the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj, calling it a ‘moment of divine connection’.

The confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati holds immense spiritual significance, and the Prime Minister described the experience as deeply devotional.

Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Blessed to be at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. The Snan at the Sangam is a moment of divine connection, and like the crores of others who have taken part in it, I was also filled with a spirit of devotion. May Maa Ganga bless all with peace, wisdom, good health and harmony.”

Following his ritual bath, the Prime Minister offered prayers at the Sangam and took a boat tour on the Yamuna River with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The Maha Kumbh 2025, which began on 13 January, is the world’s largest spiritual gathering, with millions of devotees from across the globe participating in the religious festivities.

The event will continue until 26 February, coinciding with Mahashivratri.

In a step towards preserving India’s spiritual heritage, PM Modi has focused on enhancing the infrastructure around pilgrimage sites.

During his previous visit to Prayagraj in December 2024, the Prime Minister inaugurated 167 development projects worth Rs 5,500 crore to improve connectivity and amenities.

By 8 AM on Wednesday, over 3.748 million devotees had already taken a holy dip at the Sangam.

Among them, more than 1 million Kalpvasis and nearly 2.75 million pilgrims arrived early in the morning to seek blessings.

As of 4 February, the total number of bathers in the Maha Kumbh surpassed 382 million, highlighting the scale and spiritual importance of the event.
